Hillbrow sugilite theft — EMPD officers impersonate Hawks
EMPD officers impersonating Hawks police officers stole approximately R45 million worth of sugilite precious stones from a complainant's property in Killarney, Johannesburg. The officers gained access under false pretences. The stones were never recovered. Officers were reporting to Brigadier Julius Mkhwanazi.
